Privacy Policy

Effective October 22, 2026

The Short Version

  • We collect your email address only if you subscribe to the Daily Morning Brief (to send it to you) or choose to include it with feedback (so we can reply).
  • This site sets no cookies of its own and uses no local storage, no analytics, and no advertising trackers. Article images load from outside image hosts, which may set their own cookies (see below).
  • We never sell, rent, or share your personal information for marketing.
  • Every email includes an unsubscribe link (one confirm click), and your mail app's own unsubscribe button works too. You can also ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing [email protected].

Who We Are

The Neutral Press (“we,” “us”) is an independent, AI-curated news publication operated by Mitch Krueger in the United States and published at theneutralpress.com. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. For any privacy question or request, contact us at [email protected].

Information We Collect

Newsletter subscription. If you subscribe to the Daily Morning Brief, we store your email address, a randomly generated unsubscribe token unique to you, and the dates you subscribed and (if applicable) unsubscribed.

Delivery records. So that each digest reaches you exactly once, even if our server or our email provider has a hiccup part-way through a send, we keep a short delivery record for every copy of every digest: your email address, your unsubscribe token, the outcome (queued, sent, failed), the message ID and timestamps from our email provider, and a random delivery key built from the digest date and your random subscriber ID. We also keep one copy of the digest as it was sent, which contains no information about you. These records are used only to avoid sending you duplicates and to retry a failed delivery for up to 23 hours, and they are deleted as described under “How Long We Keep Information.” Apart from subscriber records and these delivery records, no other personal information is stored in our database.

Feedback. If you use the feedback form, we receive the message you write and, only if you choose to provide it, your email address so we can reply. Feedback is delivered to our editorial inbox as an email; it is not stored in our website database.

Separately, our editors keep their own private notes on stories, such as which story should have been covered or ranked differently. Those notes are written by us about articles. They contain no information about readers, and feedback you send us is never copied into them.

Automatically collected information. When you submit the newsletter or feedback forms, our server reads your IP address for a brief moment to prevent abuse (rate limiting). This value is held only in temporary memory and is not written to our database. Our hosting provider, like all web hosts, may record standard technical information about requests to the site (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) in its infrastructure logs, governed by its own privacy policy.

What we do not collect. We do not set cookies of our own or use browser storage. We do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. We do not offer user accounts, and we do not process payments. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 16.

How We Use Information

We use the information described above only to:

  • Send you the Daily Morning Brief you subscribed to;
  • Read and, where you provided an email, respond to your feedback;
  • Prevent automated abuse of our forms;
  • Operate, secure, and maintain the site.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing, and we do not use it for profiling or automated decision-making about you.

Legal Bases (for Readers in the EU, EEA, and UK)

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent to send you the newsletter, which you may withdraw at any time by unsubscribing; and on our legitimate interests in operating a secure website, preventing abuse, and responding to reader correspondence.

Third Parties That May Receive Information

We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They process information only on our behalf and under their own privacy commitments:

  • Railway (United States) hosts our website and database, and may keep standard server logs.
  • Resend (United States) delivers our newsletter and feedback emails. It therefore processes subscriber email addresses and the contents of feedback messages, including any reply address you choose to provide. Each digest email carries a delivery key (the date, a revision number, and your random subscriber ID) that Resend uses to avoid delivering the same message twice.
  • Google Fonts. Our pages and emails load typefaces from Google’s servers, which means your browser or email client sends a request—including your IP address—to Google when the page renders.
  • External image hosts. Article images are displayed from outside servers—the original news publisher or the image-hosting service (content delivery network) it uses. When those images load, that host may see your IP address and may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy.

To produce articles, our servers call outside news, market-data, and AI-model providers. Those requests contain only news and market content; they never include any information about our readers.

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or a valid government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our readers or ourselves.

How Long We Keep Information

  • Subscriber records are kept while your subscription is active. When you unsubscribe, we mark your record inactive right away and send you nothing further (if a digest is going out at that moment, you may receive that one last copy). We delete the record entirely on request.
  • Delivery records (see above) are deleted 30 days after the digest they belong to, and the copy of the digest is deleted with them. If you unsubscribe, any copy of a digest that has not been delivered yet is removed at once and not retried. If you ask us to delete your data, your delivery records are deleted with your subscriber record.
  • Feedback emails are kept in our editorial inbox only as long as needed to consider and respond to them.
  • Rate-limiting data (IP addresses) exists only in server memory and is discarded automatically within about an hour.

Your Choices and Rights

Unsubscribe. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link that asks you to confirm with one click, and many mail apps offer their own one-click unsubscribe button. Unsubscribing takes effect right away (a digest already being sent at that moment may still arrive). You can also unsubscribe by emailing us.

Access, correction, and deletion. You may ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

Readers in the EU, EEA, and UK additionally have the rights to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.

California residents. You may review and request changes to any personal information we hold by contacting us as described above. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months.

Do Not Track. Because we do not track visitors across our site or other sites, there is nothing for a browser “Do Not Track” signal to change; we treat all visitors as if it were enabled.

International Visitors

Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the site or subscribe from outside the United States, the information described in this policy is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy law may differ from that of your home country.

Security

All traffic to the site and all newsletter delivery is encrypted in transit. Subscriber data is stored on access-controlled infrastructure, and unsubscribe links use long random tokens rather than your email address. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect so there is little to lose.

Children

The Neutral Press is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes affecting subscribers will also be noted in the newsletter.
